BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
I was born and grew up near Brevard, NC. My parents were very
active in the local Baptist church.
My Dad was a deacon and both parents were Sunday school
teachers among other jobs
at church. Their relationship with God and expression of it
has been a was very important influence throughout my life.
I accepted Christ as my savior at age 11. But at age 13 I
hear someone speaking saying the miracles were symbolic not
literal
and I questioned everything not having personally seen any
miracles, I decided that Jesus being raised from the dead was a
miracle and if that did not happen my whole faith was in
vain.
By God’s grace I quickly realized I had no reason to be on
this planet without God and His plan for my life.
I asked God to show me his presence and he did I was deeply
serious about God and His purposes for me after that I soon
found that even at 13, I was doing a lot of listening to
people’s problems, I came to believe being a pastoral counselor
was my calling. I went to a Baptist college, where I
immediately got involved with a charismatic prayer group that
formed
from several freshman. I had already prayed to be filled with
the Holy Spirit but there I received the gift of praying in
tongues
and began to pray for people to be healed. Some were shocked
when they were healed.
Our prayer group experienced great joy seeing the reality of
the work of the Holy Spirit.
At that point I wanted to find a path for counselor training
other than the secular route or the seminaries that I knew
anything about at that time, really promoted a secular point
of view. I believed I heard God tell me after fasting and
praying for a few days to go feed his lambs in California. I
was amazed since at that point I still a freshman at Carson
Newman college in Tennessee. I decided to stay open to it
and see what would happen in North Carolina.
After I graduated and taught in public school 2 years in
North Carolina. Which is what I learned to do.
I went to Los Angeles traveling with a Christian girlfriend
that I attended the same college with, that is where I
met Andy Comisky asking for information to help a guy, I knew
in college, that had decided he was gay.
Andy invited me to go to his meetings and soon ask me to lead
the group for woman that were lesbians. I told him I
didn’t know anything about lesbians. He replied he couldn’t
find anything written about lesbians, the year was 1981.
I prayed about it and felt the Lord said listen to the Holy
Spirit which is what I learned to do.
Through the years, as I have worked, as a counselor, I have
seen a full spectrum of people, with a varied list of issues.
It has always been interesting and often amazing, to be
involved with the presence of God, working in the lives of
people,
as he leads them, toward restoration, so that they, will be
able, to walk out his plan, for their individual lives.
My hope is to continue pastoral counseling, on a more full
time basis. The gifting that God has given me, prophecy and
mercy, seem to expand the more it is used. With great
expectation, I look forward to how I might be used, by
God, to see people delivered from emotional and often
physical pain, to be free to be all they can be, in Christ.
